Whitby is a beautiful place to spend a long weekend by the sea, eating ice cream and fish chips and enjoy the sea air. For a long time people have been coming from all over the UK to sample the famous fish supper and soak up everything Whitby and the surrounding area has to offer.
Situated in the National Park in the North York Moors, this little fishing port has turned into one of the most popular seaside resorts in the UK and it’s no surprise. The old town is tucked beautifully away underneath the cliffs, not far from the clean, sandy beaches near the quaint village of Sandsend, another popular spot for tourists visiting in the summer.
Outside of the natural beauty of the town and the coastline, Whitby also draws in visitors for its literary history. The story of Dracula is based partly in the town and Lewis Carroll is also known to have been inspired to write whilst wandering the streets and beaches here. And with the numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants there’s always somewhere to rest and take stock.
It’s also worth venturing to some of the other great towns out on the coast like Scarborough and Staithes, whether you focus your whole trip there or just choose to go on day trips when staying in Whitby. Either way, you’re sure to have a great time.
One thing’s for sure, accommodation is always an important factor on a holiday and this is where we come in.
